My drawings and paintings are informed by my awareness and relationship to my immediate surroundings. With a consuming interest in my own domestic habitat versus that of the public one that we share, my work is autobiographically positioned, documenting my life in an unsuggested way. A struggle between the materials used, and the creation of the work becomes evident. And the use of obsessive repetition with over exaggerated manipulation in my mark making reinforces it. Through the use of repetition of marks made with graphite, my window drawings mimic and confront architectural details from past homes in a newly imagined and physical way. Whilst my small pencil drawings of objects aim to celebrate the unwanted, fragile and overlooked. A new body of paintings explores the effects of contamination in colour and material, and their relationship to one another through a process of deconstruction and reconstruction.
